My 5 ½ year old chews on his fingers until they bleed. I have tried reasoning with him and also provided him with better chewing alternatives, but he continues to gnaw on his fingers. The effects of his chewing have left him in pain and with infections. I purchased Probelle Anti-Bite nail polish to deter him from biting his fingers.
I looked at the ingredient list, and I even brought the bottle to his pediatrician to get her approval. She didn’t like that it had formaldehyde. She was not familiar with some ingredients, and she would not comment on others. But she did jot down the brand name and was very intrigued that such a product existed.
I tried the polish on my own hands. I applied one coat to each fingernail, and it dried very quickly. It has a matte finish and is not overly noticeable. Once dry, I tentatively put the tip of my tongue to my thumb nail. IT TASTES HORRIBLE!!! Like, so bad that drinking water did not eradicate the taste from my mouth. I had to chew a piece of mint gum to overcome the awful taste. Then, I washed my hands several times. The effect was diminished some, but the same horrendous taste was transferred to my mouth each time I put a finger a my mouth, even if only for a split second.
I wear contact lenses, and was concerned that putting my fingers in my eyes or touching the lenses would cause burning or irritation to my eyes. It did not. It did not cause any discomfort to my eyes, ears, nose, etc. It just tastes bad.
The directions say to reapply the polish two times per week. I let it naturally wear off without reapplication, and the polish was no longer detectable after about 1 week. For a stronger repellent effect, I would say that reapplying twice per week is a good suggestion.
I admit that I am hesitant to apply this product to my son’s fingernails at this time. He is young and not able to verbalize very well. I am going to keep this product for use when he is a bit older. I think it would be quite helpful for an older child or for an adult.

I have 3 cats, a dog, and 3 messy young children. Also, I live in a dusty area and I have laminate flooring in all but 2 small bedrooms. It’s a constant battle to keep my floors presentable. I literally sweep the house 3-4 times per day, and that does not include under the dining table. The Jisiwei I3 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner has made it so that I am only sweeping one time per day, mostly focusing around the table to get food crumbs. If it could better navigate itself around all of our chair legs and table legs without getting hung up, I might even be able to skip a day of sweeping!
The Jisiwei I3 comes with a remote control that allows the user to control the unit’s travel path and its suction strength. It also allows the user to send the vacuum back to its base for charging and to set the timer. The vacuum itself has a single button that allows it to be paused and then to resume cleaning. In lieu of the remote, the vacuum can be controlled via an app on a smartphone. This app is available for both Apple and Android products, although it is a little glitchy for me (I’ll explain below). Additionally, the vacuum is equipped with a 1MP camera, and the video can then be viewed on your smart device, even when you are away from home! I will be honest, we find it entertaining to see how the cats and dog interact with the vacuum when we are not in the room.
The vacuum is quite effective at picking up pet hair and dust on our floors. It is not intended for use on higher pile carpeting, so I still use our stand-up vacuum in the 2 bedrooms that have carpet. It has a HEPA filter, an easy to empty trash receptacle, and a home base for charging. The vacuum can also be charged without the base, but I LOVE that when the battery is low, the robot returns itself to its home for automatic charging. It also has a small water reservoir for mopping, although I don’t find this to be as effective as the vacuuming.
As I mentioned previously, the app is not perfect. I kept trying to get it to “bind” with my network, and that kept failing. Eventually, I looked at the nearby wifi signals that my smartphone was seeing. It saw the vacuum’s signal, and I connected directly to it. In this way, I was able to use my phone to control the vacuum and to take pictures/videos. When I switched from the “smooth” mode of the video camera to the “HD” mode, and then back again, the app stopped responding. If I leave it in one mode and don’t attempt to change any settings, it will work fine. The pictures are better than I would expect from a 1MP camera, and the video is clear as well.
Other than harassing my cats, and seeing things from the dog’s vantage point, I don’t find myself wanting to use the smartphone app very often. Thus, the network features and the app are not crucial for me. The vacuum works as expected, and is a really nice helper to have around.
As of this post, the vacuum can be purchased here on Amazon. Sale price is $259.99 and, it ships free with a Prime membership.

More landscaping lights? Yes, please! This Hoont solar hanging globe is by far one of my favorite yard decorations. The crystals that form the globe glimmer in the sunlight, so it is beautiful during the day. And at night, it is absolutely stunning. There is a small LED bulb inside that changes colors every couple seconds, and the color visible through the crystals. (Note that the crystals are actually multi-faceted, 8-edged, plastic pieces.)
The Hoont hanging globe has a solar panel and a light sensor. Thus, it absorbs sunlight during daytime and then begins to light up at dusk. The solar panel has a chain attached above it,
and then there is a wire and another chain that the globe hangs from. The top chain has a carabiner type hook, but it could easily be changed if a different type of hook was necessary. I do wish I could angle the solar panel, especially during seasons with less daylight, but it is really only able to face directly upward (*very* slight tilt might be possible).
I hung this beautiful globe from the eaves so that it is viewable from our living room window and from our back patio if we’re outside. When we have a breeze, the globe spins a bit so prisms actively cast rainbows about. It also seems to be resistant to rain and temperature fluctuations. I look forward to seeing it each day.

Normally, I wouldn’t get a costume for a pet, but my family was recently adopted by a little Chiweenie and my kids insisted we at least *see* if he likes to be dressed up (ha!). I ordered a Boxing Champion costume for small dogs from the seller TianYu2016 on Amazon. I used the sizing guide in the product listing, and selected the costume in a size Large.
This costume is all one piece, but the cape can be detached by undoing two snaps. The dog’s front two legs go into the boxer’s legs and then the part that goes over the body has a strap with Velcro to hold it in place.
The sizing seems accurate, but our dog disliked the costume very much, and he was able to pull his legs most of the way out of it by rolling on the ground. When I picked up my camera to takes some pictures, he was so unhappy that he peed. Sadly, our doggy won’t be donning a costume when he goes out trick-or-treating next week.
The costume seems decently made for a dog costume. There are a couple places where the stitching could be a little more secure, but I suspect the costume would last through at least a couple of uses. I’m bummed that our dog was so resistant to the costume because it is so cute, but I suppose I’m not overly surprised.
The costume can be purchased here on Amazon for $14.25 (at the time of this post), and it has free shipping.

Since I’m always on a quest to find the “perfect” pillow, I literally have dozens of different ones with varying styles, shapes, and materials. Some pillows are memory foam, some are shredded latex foam, some are down alternative, and others are polyfill. Some are rectangular, some are square, and a couple are contoured. This Ukshellan pillow is the only one I have of this shape, however, and I was anxious to try it out.
I sleep almost exclusively on my side, and I usually put my hand under the corner of my pillow and sort of wedge it under my chin. I absolutely CANNOT share a pillow (not even with my children) because I must have access to the edge/corner at all times. The shape of this pillow gives me that extra cushion under my chin/cheek area without the need to push the corner of the pillow toward me. I really, really love the shape of this pillow! I wish it was a tad thicker, but even so, it’s by far one of my most favorite pillows.
The cover is soft and has a cool feel to it. It can also be removed for cleaning. The foam pillow inside is encased in a non-removable white fabric. I wash the cover on a cold, gentle wash cycle and then lay it flat to dry. The foam pillow can be washed as well, but I have not done it yet. Also, a standard size pillow case fits this pillow.
The foam is flexible and not nearly as dense as a memory foam pillow; this allows the pillow to feel softer than others. I think if the foam was ¾” thicker, this pillow would be perfect for me. Still, I am very pleased with this product, and I would recommend it.
I purchased this pillow on Amazon, and I am not sure if there are other retail outlets that sell it. At the time of this post, the pillow is on sale for $55.99 (regular price $139.89).
